1. Purpose
This procedure sets out how any change to a baselined item is requested, assessed, decided, made and closed. It gives every team one front door for change, so that the people who own each affected area see the change before it is made and the decision is recorded where auditors, later teams and customers can find it.
The procedure exists because the cost and risk of a change grow as a product matures. A change that is cheap at concept can touch masks, test programs and customer qualifications after release. A common request, a structured impact assessment and clear approval levels let the organisation make changes quickly where they are small and carefully where they are not.
