Standards Representative (IP)

Project

Work done for a product or program.

• Serve as the voting delegate and, where elected, editor or chair in working groups such as PCI-SIG PHY, JEDEC JC-42, MIPI PHY, UCIe protocol or IEEE 802.3.
• Author, edit and shepherd specification text, change requests and errata through working group ballot and comment resolution.
• Analyse proposals from competitors and system companies for implementability, silicon cost and roadmap impact, and craft counter-proposals.
• Run internal technical review of draft specifications with architects, PHY designers and verification leads, consolidating the company position before each meeting.
• Drive interoperability and compliance programme definition, including test specification content, plugfest scope and certification criteria.
• Feed ratified and near-ratified specification changes into IP requirements so development can start before public release.

Function

Work that keeps the discipline running: methods, tools, suppliers and people.

• Maintain the internal standards intelligence brief so product management and roadmap architects know what is coming and when it will ratify.
• Coordinate the company's intellectual property declarations, patent policy obligations and FRAND commitments with legal for each body.
• Build coalitions with partner companies to secure ballot majorities on features that matter to the IP roadmap.
