Responsibilities

Project

Work done for a product or program.

Model the technical feasibility of next-generation targets, including data-rate, power-per-bit, area and thermal limits on candidate nodes.
Define the architecture of new IP titles at block-diagram level, partitioning between controller, PHY, firmware and software before teams are staffed.
Analyse end-market compute and bandwidth trends to anticipate which interfaces and configurations will dominate demand.
Advise on build, buy or partner strategy for roadmap gaps together with product management and sourcing.

Work that keeps the discipline running: methods, tools, suppliers and people.

Construct and maintain the multi-year IP technology roadmap across interface generations, process nodes, foundries and packaging options.
Translate standards roadmaps — PCIe 7.0, DDR6, UCIe 3.0, 224G SerDes, USB4 v2, MIPI generations — into IP development start dates and resource envelopes.
Assess competitor portfolios and technology positions to identify gaps to close and areas to leapfrog.
Drive architectural consistency and reuse across the portfolio — common interconnect, register, DFT, security and low-power idioms.
Represent the technology roadmap to executives, key customers and foundry partners as the credible technical voice of the portfolio.

Works with

Typical backgrounds

MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering; 15–25 years spanning IP design, SoC architecture and productisation, typically with named silicon-proven generations of at least one major interface behind them.
