Product type classifier

Describe a product change and the AI applies the Hub's product type rules to it: every obligation, deliverable and gate shown afterward is looked up from the rules, not generated. Each of the ten product types also has a page of its own.

The ten product types

Test chip or shuttle vehicleNon-product silicon

Silicon fabricated to characterise a process, an IP block or an architectural concept. It is never released to a customer as a product.

Typical trigger: A technical unknown that cannot be closed by simulation or analysis alone
Exit criteria: Characterisation report accepted and its conclusions recorded against the originating technical risk
See the tailored lifecycle: SoC lifecycle, Test program lifecycle (supporting), Soft IP lifecycle (supporting)
New product on a new platformSilicon programme

The first product of a new architecture, a new process node, or both. It establishes a new product family and a new qualification family.

Typical trigger: A market need the existing platforms cannot meet within their design envelope
Exit criteria: Qualification report released, datasheet published, part orderable
See the tailored lifecycle: Product lifecycle, SoC lifecycle, Soft IP lifecycle (supporting), Test program lifecycle (supporting), Firmware and software lifecycle (supporting), PDK lifecycle (supporting)
