Responsibilities

Project

Work done for a product or program.

Debug customer blocking issues in timing closure, congestion, DRC convergence or verification convergence and provide workarounds within committed response times.
Drive escalations into R&D with reduced test cases, reproduction instructions and business justification for priority.
Support tapeout milestones on-site or on-call, including weekend coverage during signoff crunch.
Feed field requirements and competitive intelligence into product management roadmap reviews.
Qualify new tool releases against the customer's regression suite before they adopt them in production.
Build demonstration testcases and proof-of-concept flows for new capabilities such as AI-driven optimisation or cloud bursting.
Coordinate with account managers on renewal and expansion technical strategy and prepare technical sections of proposals.

Function

Work that keeps the discipline running: methods, tools, suppliers and people.

Run tool evaluations and competitive benchmarks on customer designs and present QoR, runtime and capacity results to design management.
Deploy and tune reference flows at the customer site, adapting scripts to their PDK, libraries, methodology and compute environment.
Deliver on-site training, hands-on workshops and methodology reviews for design teams adopting new tools or nodes.

Typical backgrounds

BS/MS in EE or CS; 3–12 years as a design, PD, or verification engineer before moving to the field
