Defect Density and Excursion Control Engineer

Project

• Define excursion detection rules, control limits and automated alarms so abnormal defectivity triggers response within hours.
• Lead excursion response: contain material at risk, place hold, estimate exposure and dispatch inspection of suspect lots.
• Run structured root cause investigation using tool commonality, PM history, chamber trace data and defect signature matching.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions to closure with equipment and module teams, verifying sustained recovery.
• Maintain the fab's out-of-control action plans (OCAP) and excursion playbooks per tool family and defect type.
• Quantify and report material-at-risk, scrap decisions and yield exposure to fab management and quality.
• Set and audit tool qualification criteria for post-PM, post-install and post-parts-change particle performance.
• Track recurring excursion signatures and convert them into preventive design or maintenance changes.
• Support customer and automotive quality requirements with 8D reports, PPAP evidence and traceability of contained material.

• Own the fab baseline defect density roadmap by layer and tool, driving particle-per-wafer-pass reduction across every chamber.
