1. Purpose of the gate
The customer device runs at a steady state: yield, delivery and field quality are at plan and sustaining owners take over.
Ramp complete ends the development story of one customer device and starts its sustaining life. The review checks that yield and cost are at or near plan, that deliveries meet the customer's schedule, and that early field issues are closed or contained.
It freezes the wafer bank replenishment plan for the device's array size, so that steady state demand is covered with the bank sized against holding limits and carrying cost.
Lessons are gathered. Each customer device teaches the platform something: about the fit check, the conversion, the design kit or the turnaround. The review records them for the platform team and the next customer.
Sustaining owners are named for the device, with its history, open issues and change notification terms. From here, the device is affected by every platform update, so it must appear on the list of customer devices by array size and base revision that each update is assessed against.
The review also looks at test. Once yield is stable, test time reduction and limit adjustments can be proposed from several lots of data, with quality agreement, and the review agrees whether that work continues under sustaining or is closed.
