1. Purpose of the gate
The final quantities have shipped and the base array and its customer devices are no longer made; design and test data are archived.
This gate closes the platform. Final orders have shipped for every customer device, the remaining bank is disposed of as agreed, and the design and test data for the base array and each customer device are archived so that later questions can be answered.
The archive is the main evidence. It holds the base database, the design kit versions, each customer device's database, sign-off records, test programs and qualification reports, in a form someone new could use.
The review checks remaining obligations: field returns after the last ship, contractual support periods and records retention.
Lessons from the whole platform are handed to the next one: what the base, the kit, the bank and the customer service got right and wrong. Useful questions include which fixed blocks customers actually used, which array sizes were in demand, how often the turnaround promise was met, which conversion problems recurred, and how much banked stock was written off.
The disposal of remaining banked wafers is recorded. Part-processed wafers left in the bank after the last builds have no further use for this platform, and the record shows that they were disposed of as agreed with the foundry and that none remain allocated to a customer device.
