1. Purpose of the gate
This gate is the engineering acceptance of the product. It says the product does what it should, across its specified conditions, and may be sold in its intended markets. It also fixes the configuration that the evidence describes: the board revision, bitstream, software and approved components. Anything shipped later that differs must be judged against this evidence.
The criteria are: system test plan executed, with results reviewed; compliance tests passed; and known issues documented.
Because logic and software can change easily, the review must be strict about which versions were tested, and about the retest decision for any change made after a test was run.
