1. Purpose of the gate
Ramp complete confirms that wafer starts, yield, equipment availability and cycle time have reached the levels in the ramp plan and have held there long enough to be trusted. It also confirms that customer qualifications are complete for the planned products and that the process control plan is final.
The gate protects against declaring victory early. A single good period can hide unstable yield or availability; the review looks for stable trends measured with the same definitions throughout the ramp, such as equipment states recorded to SEMI E10, and asks what still limits output.
