1. Purpose of the gate
Building enclosed confirms the structure and envelope are complete and weathertight, so cleanroom fit-out can start under clean build protocol. The gate checks structural and vibration tests, open non-conformances, safety and readiness of the clean build protocol.
Starting fit-out before the building is truly closed exposes clean work to dust and weather, so the gate holds firm on envelope completion.
The gate is also the last good moment to confirm that the structure meets the vibration criteria in the basis of design. Once the cleanroom ceiling, raised floor and utility routes are installed, correcting a stiff-enough structure becomes very hard, so test results from representative bays are reviewed here and any weak area is fixed before it is covered. Building and fire authority inspections due at this point are recorded as part of the evidence, since later permits depend on them.
