AMD closes its acquisition of ATI Technologies
The roughly $5.4 billion deal, funded through cash and stock plus a $2.5 billion term loan, brought a leading graphics-chip maker under AMD's roof. It set AMD on the path toward combined CPU-GPU "Fusion" processors and reshaped competitive lines against Intel and Nvidia.
