IBM unveils the world's first 2 nanometer chip technology
IBM Research announced a working 2nm test chip using nanosheet transistor technology, claiming it could fit roughly 50 billion transistors on a chip the size of a fingernail. IBM projected large gains in performance-per-watt over then-current 7nm chips.
