Western Digital closes its acquisition of SanDisk
The $16 billion deal combined Western Digital's hard-disk-drive business with SanDisk's flash-memory and NAND technology, creating a diversified storage supplier spanning both rotating and solid-state media. It positioned Western Digital to compete more directly against Samsung and other NAND rivals.
