Intel closes its acquisition of Altera
The $16.7 billion all-cash deal brought Altera's field-programmable gate array technology under Intel's roof, paired with Intel's leading-edge manufacturing. It was, at the time, Intel's largest acquisition and reflected a strategic push into programmable logic for data centers.
