Schottky diode
A rectifier formed by a metal-to-semiconductor barrier rather than a pn junction, so conduction is by majority carriers. It has a low forward drop and essentially no reverse recovery charge, at the cost of higher reverse leakage.

Notes
Silicon Schottkys are practical only to about 200 V, which is exactly the gap silicon carbide diodes filled from 2001 onwards.
