Efficiency droop
The fall in an LED's internal quantum efficiency as drive current rises, widely attributed to Auger recombination and carrier leakage. It caps how hard a given LED die can usefully be driven.

Notes
Droop is why high-lumen fixtures use more, larger dies at moderate current rather than fewer dies driven hard.
