Term · Power & Discretes
Conduction loss
Power dissipated while a device is fully on, equal to I squared times RDS(on) for a FET or current times VCE(sat) for an IGBT. It is independent of switching frequency and dominates at high current and low frequency.

Notes
The crossover between conduction-dominated and switching-dominated loss decides whether paralleling more silicon actually helps.
