Power integrity vs Power verification: what is the difference?
The difference
Power analysis estimates how much power a chip consumes. Power integrity checks whether that power is delivered at a stable voltage.
Power integrity is about delivering a stable supply voltage across the chip. Power analysis measures consumption, which is one input to it.
The two terms
Power integrity
How well the power delivery network supplies a steady voltage to every circuit under changing load, and the analysis that checks it from regulator through board and package to the transistors.
Power verification
Estimating and checking dynamic and leakage power against budget using switching activity captured from simulation or emulation, often in SAIF or FSDB form. Emulation-driven power analysis lets real workloads rather than short synthetic tests set the numbers.
