GMSL / OpenGMSL is maintained by OpenGMSL Association (an Analog Devices-championed industry initiative). The current version is OpenGMSL 3.0. The register lists it as active. The specification is available to members only.
GMSL (Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link) is Analog Devices' automotive SerDes technology for camera and display links, originally proprietary to Maxim Integrated before ADI's 2021 acquisition. The OpenGMSL Association, launched by ADI in June 2025, is converting GMSL2/GMSL3 into a RAND-licensed, tiered-membership specification — a genuine step toward an open ecosystem, though it remains ADI-championed governance rather than a fully neutral consortium standard like ASA or MIPI A-PHY.
