IEEE Standards Association (P802.3dj Task Force)
1.6 Terabit Ethernet (IEEE 802.3dj, in development) is maintained by IEEE Standards Association (P802.3dj Task Force). The current version is 802.3dj Draft (targeting 1.6 Tb/s). The specification is available to members only.
The next Ethernet speed step after 800GbE, built on 200 Gb/s-per-lane electrical signaling so it can also produce 200GbE/400GbE/800GbE variants from the same lane technology. Still an active IEEE task force draft as of early 2026 (Draft 2.4 in March 2026) rather than a ratified standard — expect implementations to track the draft closely but treat exact dates as provisional until IEEE formally approves it.
