Server Board Hardware Engineer

Project

Work done for a product or program.

• Design server motherboards, GPU baseboards and OAM or UBB carriers to CPU and accelerator platform design guides and OCP specifications.
• Architect multi-kilowatt power delivery including 48V or 12V input, hot-swap, busbars, multiphase VRMs and current telemetry across the board.
• Implement PCIe, CXL and accelerator fabric routing with retimers, riser cards, cabled topologies and EDSFF storage interfaces.
• Design the platform management subsystem including BMC, PMBus and MCTP telemetry, Redfish exposure, FRU data and hot-swap control.
• Work with mechanical and thermal teams on air and liquid cooling, cold-plate mounting loads, chassis integration and serviceability of field-replaceable units.
• Drive board bring-up and debug with BIOS, BMC firmware and platform validation teams through power-on, training and OS boot.
• Support system-level qualification including power capping, fan-failure, altitude, acoustic, shock and vibration and rack-level thermal walk-ups.
• Engage ODM and contract manufacturer partners in Taiwan and China on design transfer, DFM, DFT and mass-production ramp.
• Contribute to Open Compute Project specifications and review hyperscaler requirement documents against platform capability.

• Design DDR5 RDIMM or MRDIMM channels and validate them against JEDEC and CPU vendor margining requirements.
