Summary

Keeps the vendor's tools running in the customer's fab by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades and qualification on the cleanroom floor, and is the physical face of the supplier to the fab.

Responsibilities

Project

Work done for a product or program.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on chambers, pumps, RF generators, robots and gas panels within the fab's PM window.
Execute hardware retrofits, ECO installs and platform upgrades on the installed base, including chamber conversions and software upgrades.
Run post-maintenance qualification — particle checks, leak-up rate, rate and uniformity wafers — and return the tool to production with data.
Log every intervention, part swap and failure code accurately in the service management system so that installed-base reliability data stays trustworthy.
Follow cleanroom protocol, lock-out/tag-out, chemical and RF safety procedures and SEMI S2 practices in a live fab environment.
Escalate unresolved issues with complete data packages to remote technical support, product engineering and the factory.
Manage on-site spare parts consumption, returns and kit readiness with the site's stockroom and the installed-base planner.
Participate in on-call rotation and shift coverage to meet contractual response and uptime commitments.

Train and mentor customer technicians and junior service engineers on tool operation and first-level troubleshooting.

Typical backgrounds

Associate degree, technical diploma or BS in Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering; military technician background common; 0–10 years of hands-on equipment service.
