Summary

Owns the software package that makes a specific SoC-plus-board combination boot and run a full operating system. Exists so that customers and internal teams receive a working, reproducible platform baseline rather than a pile of patches.

Responsibilities

Project

Work done for a product or program.

Assemble and maintain the board support package spanning bootloader, device tree, kernel configuration, drivers and root filesystem.
Author and maintain devicetree source files describing clocks, pinmux, regulators, buses and peripherals for each board variant.
Configure and maintain Yocto Project layers, recipes and machine configurations that build reproducible platform images.
Bring up new reference boards and customer carrier boards from power-on to full OS console and peripheral functionality.
Rebase the BSP onto new upstream kernel, U-Boot and Yocto releases and resolve patch conflicts.
Enable and validate boot media options such as eMMC, UFS, NAND, QSPI and network boot.
Package, version and release the BSP with documented board-specific notes, patches and known limitations.
Support customers migrating from reference boards to their own hardware, diagnosing schematic-versus-software mismatches.
Track and upstream patches to mainline Linux, U-Boot and Yocto to reduce long-term maintenance debt.

Typical backgrounds

BS/MS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science; 4–12 years in embedded Linux platform work; strong track record of bringing up real boards.
