Advanced Node Pathfinding R&D Engineer

Project

Work done for a product or program.

• Evaluate future device architectures such as nanosheet, forksheet, CFET, 2D-material channels and backside power for manufacturability and PPAC.
• Design and execute short-loop experiments on pathfinding vehicles to test feasibility of novel modules quickly.
• Assess new materials — 2D semiconductors, alternative metals such as ruthenium and molybdenum, novel dielectrics — for integration viability.
• Partner with imec, CEA-Leti, IMEC-like consortia and universities on pre-competitive research programmes.
• Work with equipment and materials suppliers on tool and chemistry capability needed years before production.
• Use TCAD and DTCO studies to screen options before committing silicon resources.
• Define the transfer criteria and hand off matured options to technology development and integration teams.
• Track competitive and academic technology intelligence and advise leadership on node strategy.

• Build the technology option roadmap with quantified benefit, risk, cost and readiness for each candidate.
• Publish and present at IEDM, VLSI Symposium and SPIE, and manage the resulting IP and patent portfolio.
