Normal verification shows that the design works when nothing goes wrong, but hardening must also work when faults occur. The plan adds fault injection to verification so that every voter, error correction path and recovery mechanism is exercised. Without it, mitigation is reviewed but never tested, and errors in voters or error correction logic reach silicon.
