Qualification is the point at which the part becomes eligible for use in flight programmes. The approval record makes that decision formal, dated and traceable to its evidence. Without it, there is no clear point at which qualification was accepted, the scope of approval is ambiguous and customers cannot rely on it for their own approvals.
