It gives a disciplined way to remove the causes of significant problems and to show the customer they will not recur. Problems patched with sorting and extra inspection, with guessed root causes, bring the same complaint back. In APQP it closes launch issues and customer scorecard concerns; in the QMS lifecycle it is the main corrective action record for nonconformances and escalations.
