The package affects hermeticity, thermal performance, board assembly, outgassing and long-term supply for the whole life of the part. Recording the choice and its reasons lets customers and later teams understand and accept it. Without it, a package may be chosen that the customer cannot accept for flight, or that has no qualified supplier when production starts.
