1. Purpose and scope
Qualification shows that the part as built on the production line, in its flight package and through its screening flow, meets the requirements of the agreed framework. It covers life tests, environmental and mechanical tests, package tests, and the radiation evidence gathered earlier, and it is often accompanied by audits of the line and the quality system.
The outcome is an approval or listing: a qualified manufacturer listing for the part type and class, an ESCC qualification, or the customer's approval under its procurement specification. Every requirement of the framework is mapped to evidence in the compliance evidence matrix, and the materials declaration is released.
Qualification evidence is used long after the gate. Every later change notification is judged against it, so the evidence matrix is kept as a living record that shows which evidence each change affects.
