1. Purpose of the gate
The way the part will meet its radiation requirements is chosen and justified: by process, by design or both, on a technology whose radiation response and supply life are understood.
This gate commits the part to a technology and a hardening approach. Everything later builds on it: the libraries, the mitigation, the design effort, the test plan and the supply plan.
Reviewers want the evidence behind the choice: measured radiation data with its conditions, simulations that fill gaps and how they were calibrated, rate estimates with their uncertainty, the cost and effort of each option, and the supply life of the process, kit and libraries.
