1. Purpose of the gate
Measurement and model correlation is where the design flow is checked against reality. Every specified parameter has been measured with fixture effects removed, and the de-embedded results are compared with post-layout simulation. Each difference is explained as a model, extraction, layout, fixture or silicon issue. The gate asks whether the models can be trusted, for the datasheet, for the next revision and for later products that will reuse them.
Correlation is a formal result, not a debug step, because model and extraction errors repeat across designs until someone records and corrects them.
The gate also decides how measured results flow back into the design system. Model updates proposed by the correlation report are not applied silently: each one is raised as a change, assessed for its effect on designs already in progress, and released as a new model version with a note of what changed and why. The measured S-parameters of the die, de-embedded to the pads, become the reference that the module team uses in place of post-layout models.
The gate sits at the end of the stage RF Characterisation & S-parameter Measurement and belongs to the RF engineering track. In one line: The part has been measured against its specification with fixture effects removed, and measurements agree with simulation closely enough to trust the models, or every difference is explained and recorded.
