1. Purpose of the gate
Conformance and certification passed decides that the product may be sold in its launch markets. Formal reports have been issued by accredited laboratories, certificates and grants have been received or declarations of conformity signed, industry and carrier certifications in scope have passed, and the regulatory settings are locked in the released software so that the shipped product is the certified one.
The gate also creates the certification file that sustaining will rely on: every later change to the die, module, software or settings is assessed against it.
The gate sits at the end of the stage Regulatory & Conformance Testing and belongs to the product track. In one line: Formal conformance and regulatory testing has passed for each target market, and the certifications, declarations and reports needed to sell there are issued or filed.
