1. Purpose of the gate
The derivative's production release is decided in its own lifecycles: its SoC production release, its software production release and its Product production release. This gate does not repeat those decisions. It confirms, from the platform's side, that the release is on a named platform version, that the derivative's deviations are audited, and that the platform team has agreed to support the product.
Recording the platform version matters for years. When a platform security advisory is issued, the support team must know which products carry the affected version and which deviations might change the answer.
The gate criteria are: derivative production release approved in the derivative's own lifecycles; platform version used recorded; and support handover to the platform team agreed.
