1. Purpose and scope
Ramping a sensor means ramping four supply chains at once, the MEMS fab, the ASIC foundry, assembly and calibrated test, and keeping them in step. Calibration with physical stimulus is often the slowest step, so stimulus equipment and its references must be ordered, installed and correlated early. Yield is lost not only at test but at calibration, when a part cannot be trimmed into its limits.
The stage links data from every site by part so causes of loss can be found, holds the MEMS and assembly processes in statistical control, and watches calibration residuals for signs that the process has moved. It ends when yield, calibration throughput and parametric spread reach the levels in the plan and sustaining teams own the product.
In scope: the capacity plan, supply chain plan, test capacity plan, assembly capacity plan, process control plan, yield and calibration throughput report, unit cost report and calibration residual monitor plan. Out of scope: long-term changes and derivatives, which belong to Volume Production & Sustaining.
