1. Purpose and scope
Every tool is installed one at a time, and each installation is a small project with the customer. The purpose of this stage is to get each tool shipped lawfully, installed safely, started up, connected to the factory and accepted by the customer as quickly and predictably as possible, because final acceptance usually starts warranty and often payment.
Export screening is repeated for every shipment, spare and service visit, not only for the first tool. Destinations, parties and rules change, and a classification that was right for one configuration may not cover an option or an upgrade. The export screening flow in this lifecycle shows the steps.
Site safety and interoperability are checked on every tool. Installers follow the customer's site safety rules and the tool's SEMI S2 safety documentation; the tool is connected to the customer's production host and its data collection plans are checked; and the site acceptance test and process acceptance confirm that this tool performs like the qualified reference.
Installation quality shapes the installed base for years. A tool installed with undocumented site changes, skipped checks or a host connection that only half works becomes a service problem later. That is why the stage insists on recording the as-installed configuration, verifying interlocks after hook-up and testing the host connection on the production host before acceptance.
