1. Purpose of the gate
This gate closes the Assembly stage for the first builds. It is the first time the whole design exists as hardware: tested dies joined to a real interposer or bridge and substrate by the real process. The review asks whether the assembly is good enough to move into final test and sampling, and whether the problems found are understood and owned.
The criteria are: the assembly build report is reviewed; assembly yield is tracked; and open process issues are owned, with actions. Yield here is a criterion to track, not a target, because first builds are for learning. The gating work products are the assembly process plan, final, and the first assembly build report, final. The assembly line readiness report is completed in the same window.
The review also checks that assembly faults can be separated from die faults. Continuity checks and inspection of the first units should show which losses are due to assembly, so that known-good-die and design teams are not chasing problems that are not theirs.
