1. Purpose of the gate
This gate closes the test and repair part of the Final & System-Level Test stage and releases engineering samples. It is the first time units leave the programme to be used by others, so the review checks two things: that the units shipped are the ones that work, and that customers know what to expect from them.
The criteria are: final test passed, including die-to-die link tests; known limitations documented; and a customer feedback route agreed. The gating work products are the final test results, the final test program at final maturity and the engineering samples themselves. The package qualification plan is completed in the same window, and interoperability test results are produced where dies come from several suppliers.
