Superloop
The bare-metal structure of an infinite main loop that polls and services each subsystem in turn, with interrupts handling anything urgent. It is simple and analysable but its response time degrades as the loop grows.

Notes
Adding state machines and a tick-driven dispatcher to a superloop is often cheaper than importing an RTOS into a small product.
