Shunt resistor
A precision low-value resistor placed in the current path so that current can be measured as the small voltage across it. Values are typically in the microhm to milliohm range, and temperature coefficient and parasitic inductance limit accuracy.

Notes
Four-terminal Kelvin sensing is mandatory, since the resistance of the solder joints is comparable to the shunt itself.
