Acronym · Automotive
SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle)
A vehicle whose features, performance and revenue streams are determined mainly by software that can be updated after sale, running on hardware deliberately over-provisioned at launch to accommodate future functions.

Notes
The commercial promise is recurring revenue and feature-on-demand, but decoupling software from hardware has proven far harder than OEMs forecast.
