PSR (Polarisation Splitter-Rotator)
A photonic building block that separates the two orthogonal polarisation states arriving from a fibre and rotates one of them, so a polarisation-sensitive silicon circuit can process both on a common TE path.

Notes
Essential because silicon waveguides are strongly birefringent while standard single-mode fibre delivers random polarisation.
