Optical isolator
A non-reciprocal component that passes light in one direction and blocks the reverse path, protecting a laser from back-reflections that would destabilise its wavelength and raise noise.

Notes
Hard to integrate on silicon because it needs magneto-optic garnet material, so it usually remains a discrete part in the package.
