Flicker noise
Low-frequency noise whose power spectral density rises as one over frequency, caused in MOSFETs by carrier trapping at the oxide interface. It dominates below the corner frequency and is the main obstacle to DC-accurate CMOS analog design.

Notes
PMOS devices are typically quieter than NMOS, and flicker noise upconverted by a VCO becomes close-in phase noise.
