Flash programming algorithm
A small routine downloaded into target RAM by a debug probe that performs erase and program operations on that device's flash at full speed. Supporting a new part in a debugger usually means writing or porting one of these.

Notes
Arm's CMSIS-Pack FLM format and OpenOCD's driver model are the two common ways silicon vendors ship this to customers.
