EAL (Evaluation Assurance Level)
Evaluation assurance level (EAL): the depth of a Common Criteria security evaluation, on a scale from EAL1 to EAL7. Higher levels require more design evidence, more rigorous testing and a more searching vulnerability analysis, which is why secure elements and smart card chips quote them.
