ASIL decomposition (Automotive Safety Integrity Level decomposition)
Splitting a safety requirement across two sufficiently independent elements so each can be developed to a lower ASIL, for example ASIL D into ASIL B(D) plus ASIL B(D).
It is only valid if freedom from interference and independence are demonstrated.

Notes
The parenthesised original ASIL is retained because the decomposed elements still carry the higher-level obligation.
